A recent article in the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth focused on sex tourism in the United Arab Emirates. It reproduced the catalogs of real prostitutes and documented exchanges that could be considered pimping. In addition, it described the "cold peace" reserved for Israeli tourists in Dubai and compared it with the demonstrative hospitality extended to them by the local population.

The article also highlighted the tacit hierarchy that exists in this sector. Chinese, Filipino and Indian prostitutes are deemed of lesser value than their Central Asian counterparts, who in turn are less appreciated than Russian and Ukrainian girls. In contrast, Western women are highly sought after and are perceived to be the best value for money. The author of the article argued that this is due to the fact that Western girls are better educated and have better English than their Eastern counterparts. In addition, they are less likely to have tattoos or piercings, which are considered taboo in the Muslim community. The price for the service, therefore, reflects these qualities.
